Family riding holidays in winter
In the Strasserwirt Riding School, riding is of course possible in winter too in our large indoor riding hall. Longe instruction for beginners, group instruction for intermediates, individual lessons, or rides out into the beautiful Pillerseetal region (weather permitting); the Strasserwirt has great conditions in winter too for fantastic riding holidays in Tyrol.
Perfect skiing holidays for children and teenagers
Thanks to its ideal location near the bottom station of the Pillersee-Buchensteinwand lift and the Pillersee ski school, older children can set off on their way to the pistes or to their ski lessons alone. The ski bus stop is right in front of the Hotel Strasserwirt, which means teenagers enjoy more independence and parents have more free time to really enjoy their winter holidays in the Tyrolean mountains.
Learning how to ski is fun
The Pillersee Ski School with its popular Bobo-Kinderskipark is right next to the bottom station of the Pillerseetal Buchensteinwand lift. Children from the age of 4 can learn how to ski in a playful way in the Bobo-Kinderclub under the guidance of professional children’s ski instructors.
For a small supplement on top of the ski course price, your children can be supervised over lunchtime too. The Ski School brings the children into our partner hotel, the Kitzspitz, to eat.
Personally looked after - the Bobo Kindergarten for our youngest guests
Children under 4 years of age who are not yet big enough for ski courses are looked after in the Bobo-Kindergarten, run by the ski school, leaving you to enjoy the white splendour and skiing in the Pillerseetal ski area.

Tobogganing in the Kitzbühel Alps
Very close to the Hotel Strasserwirt is a 1 km long natural tobogganing run offering fun to visitors of all ages. It is lit daily until 11 PM. Walking time: about 30 min.
There are more toboggan runs in Hochfilzen, Waidring and Fieberbrunn.
Also in Waidring: a 360 m “Schlauchbob-Bahn” (tubing run), open Tuesday to Sunday, 2 PM to 10 PM. Walking time: about 30 min.
Snowshoe walks and winter hiking in the Pillerseetal region
Experience the tranquillity of the snow-covered winter landscape away from the pistes on a snowshoe walk, or be enchanted on romantic walks. A 100 km network of winter hiking paths starts right in front of the door of the Landhotel Strasserwirt, with easy, flat routes as well as more demanding tours in the Kitzbühel Alps.
Enjoy impressive views of the snowy peaks of the Tyrolean mountains and the warmth of the summit sunshine; those travelling on foot can use the lifts in the region to go both up and down.
Our tip: The local ski schools offer guided snowshoe walks each week.

Heading up under your own steam through the quiet, splendid winter scenery of the Pillerseetal region, enjoying the pleasant tranquillity away from the pistes. Once at the summit, you are rewarded with amazing panoramic views, and then enjoy the highlight of the skiing down on untouched powder fields.
Twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays), the Pillersee-Buchensteinwand ski area hosts a ski touring evening (skiing down on piste). More information about this is available from the Pillersee lift company.
